Dennis Hollingsworth was born in 1956 in Madrid, Spain. His artistic foundation was laid through his academic pursuits in architecture, as he earned a Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University in 1985. This architectural background has likely influenced the structural and textural elements present in his later work as a painter. Driven by a desire to deepen his exploration of the arts, Hollingsworth went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts from Claremont Graduate School in 1991.

Hollingsworth is renowned for his innovative and distinctive approach to painting, characterized by a fusion of abstraction with pop sensibilities.
