Zao, who hardly needs an introduction and whose name elicits admiration and respect, is the first and only Chinese artist to establish himself on the international art scene. Proof of this is that Zao is the only Chinese artist mentioned in H.H. Arnason’s widely acclaimed book History of Modern Art. Zao, who has been living in Paris for over 40 years, was recently awarded the Grand Croix de la Lagion d’Honneur by the French Cultural Minister. Zao also celebrates a retrospective exhibition in the Taipei Fine Art Museum this year from March to May.
